Boarding

We invite active-duty members of the U.S. Military (with valid United States Uniformed Services Active Duty Identification Card) to board with Priority Boarding before Group 1.

Baggage

Active-duty U.S. military Customers are exempt from baggage fees including excess, oversize, or overweight baggage charges, provided that none of the pieces of baggage exceeds 100 pounds in weight or 80 inches in size (L+W+H).

• A valid United States Uniformed Services Active Duty Identification Card must be presented at the time of check-in for military personnel.
• In total, a ticketed Customer (including military Customers) may not check more than 20 pieces of baggage per flight.

Note: Dependents traveling without the active-duty military member are subject to normal excess, oversized, and overweight charges.

Military fares

• Active-duty U.S. military personnel (including reservists, National Guard members, and Coast Guard , cadets/midshipmen attending the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy [West Point], and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy) and their authorized dependents are eligible for Military fares.
• To book a military fare, please call us or visit a Southwest^® ticket counter. Military fares are not available on Southwest.com^®. Rapid Rewards^® points cannot be redeemed to purchase military fares.
• A Customer who has purchased a military fare must present a valid United States Uniformed Services Active Duty Identification Card at the ticket counter in order to receive their boarding pass.
