Devices that attach to the aircraft and interfere with the function of or may damage a seat or other component are not permitted.
Personal devices must not:
- Prevent the normal recline of a seat
- Attach to the aircraft wall window frame or window shade track
- Interfere with the function of another Passenger’s tray table
- Extend into the aisle
- Unreasonably intrude into another Passenger’s personal space or unduly affect another Passenger’s comfort
- Block normal access to the aisle
- Impose weight loads that damage the tray table
- Prevent the tray table from being stowed and latched for taxi, takeoff, and landing
- Block any Passenger’s view of the aircraft signage
Devices that attach to the aircraft wall or prevent the recline function of a seat are not permitted. Examples include:
- Knee defenders
- Cup holders that attach to the aircraft wall
Some items can be used in flight but must be stowed for taxi, takeoff, and landing. Examples include:
- Personal device holders
- Clip-on fans/reading lights
- Foot slings
- Non-medical seat cushions
- Seatback organizers
Some items can be used only in window seats and must be stowed for taxi, takeoff, and landing. Examples include:
- Inflatable footrests
- Flyaway beds
- Infant hammocks/slings that attach to the seatback
- Seat extenders
