- Fishing rods encased in a sturdy, cylindrical fishing rod container are accepted as checked baggage.
- The container must withstand normal checked baggage handling without sustaining damage to the rod.
- A fishing tackle box must be a suitable, sturdy, and securely closed container.
- When substituting a fishing rod and/or fishing tackle box for a checked bag, we allow one fishing rod container and one tackle box to count as one checked item, even if they are packed and tagged separately.
- Fishing equipment over 100 pounds in weight and/or 115 inches in total dimensions cannot be checked as baggage.
- Standard checked bag fees and overweight bag fees apply to fishing equipment.
- Oversize fees are waived.
