If your flight is significantly disrupted:
If your flight is canceled by Southwest, significantly delayed, or significantly impacted by a schedule change (generally a delay or change of three or more hours domestically and six or more hours internationally), and you decide not to travel, you are eligible for a method-of-payment refund– even for non-refundable tickets. If you are eligible for a ticket refund due to a significant flight disruption, you are also entitled to a refund for any bag fee that you paid, and any unused extras you may have purchased, such as an Extra Legroom seat or Priority Boarding. Refunds are processed within seven (7) business days. We recommend that you contact Southwest® as soon as you know of your change of plans. Learn more about your options.
If your flight is not significantly disrupted:
If your flight is not significantly disrupted but you decide not to travel and cancel your reservation at least 10 minutes prior to original scheduled departure:

You can choose to either a) receive a method-of-payment refund or b) hold the value of the ticket as a Transferable Flight Credit™ that you can use to buy a future flight. Transferable Flight Credits™ have a specified expiration date. All travel must be completed by the expiration date.
- Choice tickets are non-refundable. The value of the ticket will be converted to a Transferable Flight Credit™ that you can use to buy a future flight. Transferable Flight Credits™ have a specified expiration date. All travel must be completed by the expiration date.
- Basic tickets are non-refundable. If value remains on the ticket at the time of cancellation, it will be converted to a flight credit that you can use to buy a future flight. Flight credits have a specified expiration date. All travel must be completed by the expiration date.
- If you cancel your reservation within 24 hours of booking, you can choose either to a) receive a method-of-payment refund or b) hold the value of the ticket as a flight credit or Transferable Flight Credit™ (depending on the type of fare) to buy a future Southwest® flight. Flight credits and Transferable Flight Credits have a specified expiration date. All travel must be completed by the expiration date.
