Points can be earned from (a) completing travel on Qualifying Flights operated by Southwest®, (b) qualifying purchases with our Rapid Rewards® partners, or (c) Getaways by Southwest™ vacation packages. Qualifying Flights include flights operated by Southwest Airlines® and paid entirely with dollars, Southwest LUV Vouchers®, gift cards, vacation travel credits, or flight credits and those paid with Cash + Points. NOTE: With a Cash + Points booking, points are earned only on the portion of the base fare that is paid with dollars. Qualifying Flights exclude reward flights, charter flights, nonrevenue travel, and Companion Pass® travel. All Rapid Rewards rules and regulations apply.
To earn points for each Qualifying Flight, Member must provide their Rapid Rewards account number when making their reservation or prior to commencement of travel.
Member who fails to provide their account number can request points for past Qualifying Flights for up to 12 months after their Qualifying Flight by visiting Southwest.com®.
The actual number of points earned for each Qualifying Flight is calculated after completion of the entire ticket and, with the exception of Group Travel, Getaways by Southwest™, and partner itineraries, the number of points earned is based on the final dollar amount paid for the base fare, the fare product purchased for that Qualifying Flight, and the Member's tier status (if applicable).
Taxes and fees imposed by the United States and foreign governments, including airport-assessed Passenger Facility Charges (PFCs), federal segment fees, the government-imposed September 11th Security Fee, and other taxes and fees are not eligible to earn points. Nonrevenue travel, reward travel, e-pass travel, and Companion Pass® travel are not eligible for earning points.
For Group Travel, the Group Travel Agreement will state the number of points per one-way flight eligible to be earned by a Member when their Rapid Rewards account number is provided prior to commencement of travel.
For Interline transportation, the number of points earned for each individual Qualifying Flight is based on the distance flown, and points are posted within eight days after the Southwest Airlines-operated segment of your itinerary is flown. Distances are determined by Southwest Airlines in its full and absolute discretion.
For Getaways by Southwest™, each vacation booking will accrue points at a set rate (established by Southwest in its sole discretion) multiplied by the dollar amount of the total base price of all eligible components of the vacation booking, excluding taxes, fees, post-pays, and optional travel charges. The total number of accrued points will then be divided as equally as possible among all persons on the vacation booking (excluding lap children). To receive their portion of the total number of accrued points, the Rapid Rewards member must have associated their Rapid Rewards number with their vacation booking, or they must request their portion of the accrued points no later than 12 months after completion of their Getaways vacation booking. Any portion of points not associated with a Rapid Rewards number will be forfeited 12 months after the completion of the Getaways vacation booking and will not be redistributed to other persons on the booking who did enter their Rapid Rewards number. Points will only accrue for completed, eligible components of the booking, using the final dollar amount of the total base price of the eligible components (air, hotel, rental car, and airport transportation) multiplied by Southwest’s set rate.
NOTE: If a ticket is purchased that combines different fare types (e.g., Choice Extra for the outbound segment and Basic for the return segment), the number of points earned will be calculated by multiplying the base fare for each segment by the corresponding number of points per dollar for each fare product.
