Most flights can be canceled directly on Southwest.com® or in the Southwest® app—no need to call.
If you're canceling due to a significant delay or significant change (typically 3+ hours for domestic flights or 6+ hours for international) or a flight cancellation, additional information is available.
To cancel:
- Go to Manage reservations on our website or app.
- Pull up your reservation using your confirmation number and name.
- Tap or click Cancel.
Most Customers can also cancel part of a trip while keeping the rest of a reservation active, unless a Basic fare is included in the reservation. Note: If any portion of a roundtrip is booked with a Basic fare, cancellations are only permitted if either a) the full roundtrip is canceled or b) the Basic fare is upgraded to Choice, Choice Preferred, or Choice Extra before either portion is canceled.
Please cancel or change your flight as soon as you decide not to travel to help other Passengers book and keeps fares low. You can cancel up to 10 minutes before your original scheduled departure. If you don’t cancel or change your flight and don’t show up, our no-show policy will apply.
Canceling for one Passenger on a reservation with two or more Passengers
If your reservation includes multiple Passengers, and you want to cancel for just one:
- Divide the reservation.
- Cancel the specific traveler’s reservation.
- You’ll receive a new confirmation number for the updated booking.
Partner Itineraries
To change or cancel a flight booked with a partner airline, contact the partner carrier directly. Their fare rules will apply.
