I’m a Getaways by Southwest™ Customer, and Southwest® canceled my flight. What are my options?

Changes and Cancellations

We're sorry your flight was canceled by Southwest®. You have a few options available.

Option #1: Continue with your travel plans

  • In most cases, if Southwest cancels your flight, you will be automatically rebooked on another Southwest flight to your destination. If Southwest texts or emails you with a new itinerary, your new reservation is confirmed. You must also call Getaways by Southwest™ so that we can update the non-air components of your booking to reflect the change.

Option #2: Change your flight

  • If your new itinerary doesn't work or you aren't automatically rebooked, contact Getaways by Southwest™ to change your flight date and/or time by up to 14 days from your original travel date at no additional cost. We’ll also need to make any changes to the non-air components of your booking.

Option #3: Cancel your Getaways by Southwest™ vacation package and choose vacation travel credit

  • If you decide not to travel as a result of a cancellation, you can receive a vacation travel credit (VTC) toward a future Getaways by Southwest™ package rather than a refund if you call Getaways by Southwest™ to cancel your reservation. When issued, VTCs will be divided as equally as possible among all Passengers included on the reservation when the reservation was initially booked (including lap children). VTCs have a specified expiration date. All travel must be completed by the expiration date. If your flight is canceled by Southwest® and you choose a VTC when canceling your reservation, your VTC will be valid for five years from the date of the cancellation.
  • You must call Getaways by Southwest™ to cancel your reservation at least 10 minutes before the first flight’s original scheduled departure. Reservations that are not flown and not canceled at least 10 minutes before the first flight’s original scheduled departure are subject to our no-show policy.
  • Review the Getaways by SouthwestTM Refund Policy for details about the non-air components of your package.

Option #4: Cancel your Getaways by Southwest™ vacation package and choose a method-of-payment refund for your airfare

  • When you cancel your reservation by calling Getaways by Southwest™, you will have the option to receive a refund of your unused airfare. Generally, refunds are processed to the original form of payment and are processed by Southwest® within seven (7) business days.
  • Please cancel your reservation at least 10 minutes prior to your first flight’s original scheduled departure.
  • Review the Getaways by SouthwestTM Refund Policy for details about the non-air components of your package.
