I’m a Getaways by Southwest™ Customer, and Southwest significantly delayed my flight. What are my options?

If your flight is delayed by three hours or more (domestic) or six hours or more (international), you have several options:

Option #1: Continue with your travel plans on your original flight

We will do our best to get you on your way.

Call Getaways by Southwest™ so that we can update the non-air components of your vacation package to reflect the change in your arrival and/or departure time. Check your flight status on Southwest.com® or the Southwest® app.

Option #2: Change your flight

Southwest may automatically rebook you on another flight. If you’re rebooked and the new flight doesn’t work for you or if you weren’t rebooked but want to change your flight, you can contact Getaways by Southwest™ to change your flight at no extra cost.

If you receive a new itinerary, it’s confirmed. Call Getaways by Southwest™ so that we can update the non-air components of your vacation package to reflect the change.

Option #3: Cancel and choose vacation travel credit

If you choose not to travel, you can cancel and receive:

  • Vacation travel credit (VTC): VTCs will be divided as equally as possible among all Passengers included on the reservation when the reservation was initially booked (including lap children). VTCs have a specified expiration date. All travel must be completed by the expiration date.
  • You must call Getaways by Southwest™ to cancel your reservation at least 10 minutes before the original scheduled departure of your first flight. Reservations that are not flown and not canceled at least 10 minutes before the first flight’s original scheduled departure are subject to our  no-show policy.
  • Review the Getaways by SouthwestTM Refund Policy for details about the non-air components of your package.

Option #4: Cancel and request a refund

You’re eligible for a refund to your original method of payment method for your airfare and any unused optional travel charges if Southwest initiated any of the following changes and you decide not to travel:

  • Departure time moved up by three+ hours for domestic trips or six+ hours for international trips
  • Arrival time to your destination airport moved back by three or more hours for domestic trips or six or more hours for international trips
  • Departure or arrival airport changed
  • Additional connection point(s) added
  • Downgrade to a lower class of service
  • Change in connection airport(s) impacting a Passenger with a disability

Refunds are typically processed within seven business days to the original form of payment. Please call Getaways by Southwest™ to cancel your reservation at least 10 minutes before the original scheduled departure.

Review the Getaways by SouthwestTM Refund Policy for details about the non-air components of your package.
