Getaways by Southwest™ Refund Policy

Changes and CancellationsRefund policy

If your flight is significantly disrupted:

Airfare and optional travel charges

If your flight is canceled, significantly delayed, or affected by a significant schedule change—typically a delay or change of three or more hours for domestic flights and six or more hours for international flights—and you choose not to travel, you’re eligible for a refund to your original method-of-payment

In these cases, you’re also eligible for a refund for any bag fees you paid and for any unused optional travel charges (with the exception of travel insurance), such as Extra Legroom seats or Priority Boarding. Refunds for airfare and optional charges are processed within seven (7) business days.

We recommend contacting Getaways by Southwest as soon as you decide not to travel. Learn more about your options.

Non-air package components

If the disruption was within Southwest’s control:

If your flight is canceled, significantly delayed, or affected by a significant schedule change due to reasons within Southwest Airlines®' control—such as mechanical issues or an aircraft swap—and this affects your non-air reservations (like hotel or car rental), you will be eligible for:

  • a waiver of any penalties from the travel supplier and/or
  • reasonable and comparable non-air reaccommodations at no extra cost to you.

If your non-air reservations are canceled or reduced in price because of a flight disruption caused by Southwest, any remaining value will be:

  • issued as vacation travel credits, split equally among all Passengers on the reservation.
  • or, if you prefer, refunded to your original form(s) of payment.
If the disruption was not within Southwest’s control:

If your flight is canceled, significantly delayed, or affected by a significant schedule change due to reasons outside of Southwest Airlines' control and this affects your non-air reservations (like hotel or car rental):

    • Any eligible unused value—after deducting any travel insurance and supplier penalties—will be issued as vacation travel credits, split equally among all Passengers listed on the reservation.

If your flight is not significantly disrupted:

Voluntary cancellations more than 72 hours before the original scheduled departure of the first flight on your itinerary:

If you cancel your reservation:

  • you won’t be charged any supplier penalties.
  • any travel insurance and non-refundable optional travel charges will be forfeited.
  • any remaining eligible funds will be issued as vacation travel credits, split equally among all Passengers on the reservation.
Voluntary cancellations between 72 hours and 10 minutes before the original scheduled departure of the first flight on your itinerary:

If you cancel your reservation:

  • you may be subject to supplier penalties, which vary depending on the provider, and may result in forfeiting funds.
  • any travel insurance and non-refundable optional travel charges will be forfeited.
  • any remaining eligible funds will be issued as vacation travel credits, split equally among all Passengers on the reservation.

Cancellations within 24 hours of booking

If you cancel an unchanged reservation within 24 hours of booking and more than 72 hours before the original scheduled departure of your first flight:
  • You’ll receive a refund to your original form(s) of payment less any non-refundable optional travel charges.
If you cancel an unchanged reservation less than 72 hours before your first flight but at least 10 minutes before departure:
  • You’ll receive a refund to your original form(s) of payment less any supplier penalties and any non-refundable optional travel charges.
If you cancel less than 10 minutes before departure:

Your reservation will be subject to the no-show policy.
