Our Basic fare is our most restrictive fare:
- Non-refundable
- Non-changeable unless you upgrade to Choice, Choice Preferred, or Choice Extra
- 2X Rapid Rewards® points per fare1
Voluntary cancellations: If you purchased a Basic fare and want to cancel your flight, you must cancel at least 10 minutes prior to the original scheduled departure time in accordance with our no-show policy. If you cancel at least 10 minutes prior to the original scheduled departure time, you may be eligible for a flight credit for up to 6 months, depending on how far in advance you purchased your Basic fare.
For roundtrip reservations, if one or both segments is booked with a Basic fare, you must either cancel the full roundtrip reservation or upgrade all Basic fare segments to either Choice, Choice Preferred, or Choice Extra before canceling an individual segment on your reservation.
What happens after I cancel?
If you apply a flight credit, Transferable Flight Credit™, or Southwest LUV Voucher® when purchasing a ticket, any flight credit or Transferable Flight Credit issued following a cancellation inherits the earliest expiration date of any funds applied. A flight credit associated with a Basic fare expires six months from the original purchase date. All travel must be completed by the expiration date of the flight credit.
If you purchase a Basic fare and cancel the reservation more than six months after booking (or any time after the expiration date of the funds associated with your ticket), you will not receive a flight credit.

If your flight is significantly disrupted and you cancel your reservation and choose a flight credit, your flight credit or Transferable Flight Credit will be valid for five years from the date you canceled the reservation. | |
