I need an extra seat to accommodate a disability

Accessible Travel AssistanceAirport and boarding assistance

Customers with disabilities who physically occupy more than one seat in some way and would otherwise be unable to access our aircraft should purchase the needed number of seats in advance to ensure the additional, adjacent seat is available. See below for information about refund options for the extra seat.

If you arrive at the airport without having reserved adjacent seats and no adjacent seats are available, you will be rebooked on another flight with available seating.

What happens if I arrive to the airport and have not reserved the space I need?

  • You'll be accommodated with a complimentary extra seat, but only if adjacent seats are available, which may result in a change of seat type, including a lower category of seat.
  • If the flight is sold out or if adjacent seats are not available, we will rebook you on an alternate flight to your destination where adjacent seats are available.
  • To avoid being rebooked, we encourage you to purchase your second seat when you make your initial reservation.

Extra seat refunds

  • If you purchased two seats in advance, you may request a refund for your extra seat after travel. Keep in mind the following:
  • The flight(s) must depart with at least one open seat (or with Passengers traveling on space available passes)
  • Both seats should be purchased in the same fare class (i.e., Choice, Choice Preferred, Choice Extra, or Basic)
  • The refund request must be made within 90 days of your date of travel.

Receiving seat assignments

Depending on your fare type, your fare may include the ability to choose your seats when booking. If seat selection isn't available during booking, please contact us as soon as possible so we can assist you in assigning adjacent seats.

Please note:

  • Except for Customers traveling with a companion who provides disability-related assistance, we will not assign seats to other members of your party if their fare does not include seat selection.
  • If adjacent seats are not available on your flight or in the fare class purchased when you contact us, we will rebook you on an alternate flight with adjacent seats available.

When you arrive at the gate, board with your assigned boarding group.

Customers may not purchase more than one seat for the sole purpose of keeping the seat next to the Customer empty.
