We welcome small, vaccinated domestic cats and dogs in an appropriate pet carrier in the cabin on domestic flights. Pets must be at least eight (8) weeks old to travel. No pets are transported in the cargo compartment. Unaccompanied Minors cannot travel with a pet.
Space is limited. We recommend making a reservation in advance by calling us.

Pet Fare
A Pet Fare is required, and pricing can be found on our Optional Travel Charges page. Pet Fare pricing is subject to change at any time. The Pet Fare must be paid at the Southwest® ticket counter with accepted credit cards. If you cancel your reservation, the Pet Fare is refundable.
Pet Carriers
Each ticketed Customer may bring one pet carrier, and each pet carrier may hold up to two small cats or dogs of the same species.
- Pets (including head and tail) must remain inside their carrier at all times in the gate area, during boarding and deplaning, and throughout the flight.
- Carriers must be stowed under the seat while onboard.
If you don’t follow these requirements your pet may be denied transportation. Learn more about acceptable pet carriers.
Behavior expectations
A pet that shows disruptive behavior may be denied boarding. Examples of disruptive behavior include (but are not limited to):
- Scratching, excessive whining or barking
- Growling, biting, jumping, lunging
- Urinating or defecating in the cabin or gate area
